Dr. Lei Zhang
Schlitz is Vice President, Research & Development of Illinois Tool Works
Inc. (ITW), a Fortune 200 diversified manufacturer of highly engineered
components and industrial systems and consumables. With $13.9
billion in revenues, ITW is a multinational manufacturer of a diversified range
of value-adding and short lead-time industrial products and equipment. The Company consists of 840 business
units in 57 countries and employs some 59,000 people.
Dr. Schlitz
joined ITW in 2008 as Vice President, Research & Development. She is responsible for directing the
worldwide operations of the ITW Technology Center, working closely with ITW
business leaders to ensure their businesses stay on the cutting edge of
technology.
Prior to joining
ITW, Dr. Schlitz spent seven years at Siemens Energy and Automation. She had
P&L responsibility of new business segments within Siemens, and held
numerous positions managing research and product development groups. Prior to joining Siemens, she
spent four years at GE Global Research and GE Industrial Systems. She started out her career at the
Innovation Center for Eaton Corporation.
Dr. Schlitz has
a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin,
Milwaukee. As a native Chinese, Dr.
Schlitz earned her B.S. in Engineering Mechanics from Tsinghua University in
Beijing, China.
Dr. Schlitz is
an advisory board member for the University of Illinois Chicago College of
Engineering. She is also a member
of the Society of Women
Engineers.
